Meet Alon AI

Alon AI is SurfTrip.ph's surf forecasting assistant, built in partnership with Code Mavericks. It reads calibrated forecast data — already processed and blended from multiple open data sources — and produces a daily surf briefing for active spots across the Philippines.

The name comes from the Filipino word alon — wave.

What it does

Alon AI doesn't just restate the numbers. Each daily briefing ranks active spots from most to least promising for the week, interprets the data in surf terms — wave quality, tide windows, best times to paddle out, and who the conditions suit — and delivers it in plain English.

Think of it as a knowledgeable surf buddy who checked the models so you don't have to.

What each forecast covers

Each briefing covers wave height, swell direction, swell period, wind speed, wind direction, and tide across a 7-day window. Alon AI generates forecasts for all active spots listed on the Surf Spots page.

How often it updates

Once daily. The underlying data is updated continuously, but the briefing is consolidated and published every day so you get one clear read instead of a moving target.

Data sources

The forecast data Alon AI reads has already been ingested, blended, and calibrated from multiple public and open datasets. The full source list and methodology are on the how forecasts work page.

Accuracy and disclaimer

Alon AI is an AI-powered system. Forecasts are a guide, not a guarantee. Ocean conditions are inherently unpredictable and can change fast. Always check local conditions before paddling out, surf within your ability, and respect the ocean.
