Spot overview
In surfing circles, Pundaquit is popular for Magic Left. This long left hand reef break is arguably the longest left hander in the island when it's firing. Due to how slow the wave breaks, I consider Magic Left as a gentle giant.
It has an easy takeoff point that flattens out in the middle but connects all the way to the inside on a big day giving you that long big ride you've always wanted.
Although Pundaquit is a great spot for longboarders, the inside section of Magic left is also nice for shortboarders when it's not crowded. It can get frustrating catching
waves on the inside of Magic Left when it's crowded though. That beign said, there are plenty of spots in the area for short boarders as well. The rivermouth for example has a smaller yet hollower and faster wave.
It's a short punchy wave perfect from practicing those aerials I'll never make in my life. There are coves nearby that is just a 30 to 40 minute boat ride that has waves with power as well. You can never go wrong with
this spot on a big southswell day.
This spot works on South swell or Habagat season. The waves wraps around the edge of the cove while the wountain blocks the wind. If the wave forecast for this spot is bigger than 6ft on Habagat season, pack your boards and go. You're up for an awesome session.
Getting to Pundaquit
Zambales, which is around 3 to 4 hour drive, is one of the closest quality spots to surf coming from Manila. The best way to get to Pundaquit or Zambales is generally by driving.
You'll have the freedom to check the neighboring towns if the tides aren't right when you get there.
That being said. If you do not have the luxury of driving there, it's still pretty easy getting to Pundaquit. In fact, it only takes two major steps commuting there.

Bus
The best way to commute to Pundaquit is via Victory Liner. They have Terminals in Caloocan, Cubao, Sampaloc and Pasay among others.
- Take the Victory Liner bus heading to Iba or Sta. Cruz Zambales and ask to be dropped of at San Antonio Public Market.
- Take a trike to Pundaquit beach

Driving directions from Manila
- Head North On NLEX till you reach SCTEX
- Head West On SCTEX to Subic
- Head north from SBMA taking route 306 (Olongapo-Bugallon Rd.) till you reach San Marcelino Municipal Plaza. Landmark (7/11) About an hour from SBMA
- Turn left to San Marcelino - San Antonio - San Narciso Rd for 9 to 10 Minutes till you reach San Antonio Municipal Hall
- Turn left at the Western Union right across the municipal hall and go down 3 blocks
- Turn right and head straight till you reach a red arch
- Turn left and follow the road till you reach Pundaquit
